Maine Credit Union League and Synergent Boards Announce the Hiring of a New President/CEO

(Portland, ME) – The Maine Credit Union League and Synergent Boards have selected Todd Mason to lead the organizations as its President/CEO.

Last year, current President/CEO John Murphy announced his plans to retire this June following 44 years of service to credit unions, including 25 years as the President/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent.

Mason is currently Chief Strategy Officer for RouteOne, an indirect automotive lending technology company.  Prior to his current position, he enjoyed a 19 year career with the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates.  While with the Michigan League, he served in a variety of capacities ranging from Vice President of Technology, Education and Marketing; to Chief Operating Officer for CU Solutions Group.  He also helped launch the cooperative venture League InfoSight, where he served as its Chief Operating Officer.

“The Boards are very pleased to have selected Todd as our next leader,” stated Board Chairman and Connected CU CEO Rick Lachance.  “We believe he is very much aligned with our values, culture and shared vision for our organizations.  His extensive leadership experience, with both a technology organization and working with innovative credit union trade association services, allows Todd to bring unique skills to our organizations.  Our Boards look forward to the innovation and service commitment that he will bring to the credit unions we serve.”

“I am honored by the Board’s decision, and I am fortunate to be taking the helm of a strong organization and legacy John Murphy has created with the support of his staff and the credit unions they serve,” said Mason.  “My vision is to build on that, and help credit unions be at the right place, at the right time with the right services, wherever member financial decisions are made.  As a result, my focus will be on delivery of innovative technologies to help credit unions serve their members as well as excellence in advocacy, strong Governmental Affairs, and providing timely education and information.”

The selection of Mason followed an extensive, six month national search conducted by O’Rourke & Associates and included a six member search committee and ultimately, participation by the full Board of Directors.  He will join the Maine Credit Union League and Synergent on Monday, April 24th.
