Technology Conference Shares the Power of

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

(Westbrook) - "Unleashing the Power of e" was the focus of a forum for over 50 of Synergent's technology service bureau users who attended the two sessions held recently in Bangor, Maine and  Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  Gary Glenn, Senior Vice President for Synergent, explained that while "e" stands for everything from efficiencies to eAlerts, it all means offering the latest in technology to credit unions and their members.   "Consumers want it fast and free.  Our task is to meet the needs of the different demographics that credit unions serve," he said.

Glenn highlighted the importance of Shared Branching in the future of credit unions and the success that Synergent users are seeing with this service, with 122 locations now in Maine, and more throughout New England.  He added that this is a service valued by Baby Boomers, who appreciate the face to face interaction Shared Branching allows them to have, even when their CU is far away.  For the greatly coveted Generation Y, Mobile Banking will be very important in the months and years ahead.

Ben Jordan, Assistant Vice President for Synergent Technology Services, said that with Synergent, credit unions will be able to provide these offerings to members, at a price they can afford.  "Synergent works with third party vendors to bring these products to you at a low cost," he said. This presentation of the many offerings Synergent provides to credit unions at affordable, and sometimes no cost, made the session of great value to attendees, with one participant describing the highlight of the day as "Learning what was available and that a lot of it was with no additional fees."

In addition to sharing the latest "e" offerings, Jordan described Synergent's and Symitar's Enhancement Process, and how it gives credit unions the opportunity to make the Episys core processing platform best fit their needs. He said that those involved with the process continually ask the questions, "Will this benefit everyone?  Will it help credit unions grow?"

The importance of enhancing service, both for credit union staff and members, was a theme throughout the sessions, which all involved agreed were a success, with one attendee remarking, "We don't always stay abreast of new developments in this area, so it was very exciting to get so many ideas about how we can serve our members better and more efficiently."
