Thursday, February 25, 2010 (Westbrook) - Marking a significant milestone in convenience, members of participating credit unions now have account access to 4,000 CO-OP Shared Branching locations throughout the United States. In addition to the 4,000 physical, full-service shared branch locations, credit union members also have access at 2,300 Shared Branching kiosk locations, providing a unique and convenient self-service option. Shared Branching allows credit unions members to use participating credit unions like their own credit union. As a result, credit unions can offer their members a collective branch network comparable to the largest national bank competitors. Today, CO-OP Shared Branching ranks fourth in the nation by number of branches, only behind Wells Fargo/Wachovia, Bank of America and Chase. "In today's economic climate, the opportunity to save travel time, effort and fuel through accessing a nearby Shared Branching location is extremely valuable to credit union members," John Murphy, President of Synergent, explained. "Now with 4,000 locations, Shared Branching is one more way Synergent enables credit unions to provide members with the services they need, while saving them time and money." Synergent provides one of the most cost effective entry points to Shared Branching. The Episys solution provides a seamless interface with the Shared Branching Network, allowing staff to conduct Shared Branching transactions as part of the standard teller functionality, distinguish Shared Branching transactions from others throughout Episys and report on Shared Branching transactions separately.
