Friday, October 31, 2008 Representatives from the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) met with League and Synergent Employees to receive insight and advice in their efforts to convert credit unions in Africa to an automated processing system. Your League's President, John Murphy, Ben Jordan, Steve Nelson and Tim Gilman met with Barry Lennon, Senior VP for WOCCU, and Brian Branch, COO & EVP for WOCCU, on October 20. The representatives shared common issues and problems that these credit unions experience, that they hope a core processing system will resolve through creating standards throughout credit unions in this country. Synergent staff discussed the importance of having a core processor serve as a partner in making this transition, explaining how Synergent works closely with credit unions before, during and after a conversion to ensure its success. Other topics covered in the meeting included the selection of a software package, the skill sets of credit union staff, internal controls and policy framework, ongoing maintenance and support, and add-on products and services.
