Did you know that October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month? This collaborative effort between the Department of Homeland Security and its partners, including the National Cyber Security Alliance, is dedicated to raising awareness about the vital role that cyber security plays in the lives of U.S. citizens.

Synergent is also dedicated to raising cybersecurity awareness and urges credit unions and their members to take data security seriously. We can all play a part in protecting our vital information, both at the business level and at home with our families.

Staying Safe

A few tips to keep in mind:

  • Basic online safety habits start at home and carry over to the workplace.
  • Cyber security training and understanding are key in today’s cyber world.
  • Protecting personal information is a must!
  • Information classified as NPPI (Non-Public Personal Information) is highly sensitive and needs to be protected.

Being Part of Something Bigger

Cyber crime is an ever-growing threat, and we need to stay diligent and alert to the many cyber risks that are present both in the workplace and at home. Understanding and preparing for possible attacks via email, social media, web surfing, smartphones, work phones, and various other vectors of attack can be critical to your safety.
